Tips
Tip 1: People use different methods to learn how to draw. Some do the step-by-step and others look in magazines, watch TV or read manga to learn. Find a method that you are most comfortable with.
Tip 2: Draw, draw, draw. Take a break. Draw, draw, draw again. Often take breaks. Sometimes drawing to much can lead you to a sore hand.
Tip 3: If your pictures look like a mess after erasing, use different pencils. Different pencils have different lead levels; soft pencils like 2H for the sketch and after go over it with a darker lead such as B or ink.
Tip 4: Experiment with different media such as different pencils, inks or software systems.
Tip 5: If you rush while inking, you can leave mistakes, smudges or stray lines - take your time.
Tip 6: It's a good idea to draw big! It's easier to draw on a large image than squeezing in to add details on a tiny face.
Tip 7: If you don't feel like drawing but you want to (understood that?), look around, read a book or do something to get inspired. What I do is I visit this site. It has weekly topics for any artist and has links to other famous arists. Illustration Friday
